Sunderland ready to offer £7million for Michael Carrick

Sunderland are weighing up a £7m bid for Manchester United’s England midfielder Michael Carrick.
The former West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur player is said to be wanted by Steve Bruce as a replacement for skipper Lorik Cana.
Sunderland fans were left in shock when Cana, who only moved to the Black Cats a year ago joined Galatasaray in a £6million move.
Carrick failed to hold down a regular place in United’s midfield last season and Bruce is set to test Sir Alex Ferguson’s resolve with a move for Wallsend-born Carrick.
