Fan Report: Sunderland 2-2 West Ham

Talk about a match made in absolute heaven, Sunderland and the Stadium of Light continue to conjure up the sort of firework entertainment that’s usually saved for Guy Fawkes Night, but thankfully no-one on Wearside seems to be reading that script.
The season-ticket renewals that fans begrudgingly paid in March now appears a shrewder piece of business than the signings of Darren Bent, Lorik Cana and Lee Cattermole put together.
Who’d have thought that the SOL could produce a weekly glut of goals, wave after wave of bulldog tenacity and an atmosphere so electric it could light up the cities Christmas lights until January.
Each home game seems desperate to out-do the previous, and if people thought mid-table mediocrity would be boring then thank you very much let’s have it every year.
When at home, the team and fans have turned each fixture into a cup final, each encounter seems to resemble a Wear-Tyne derby and regardless of the result fans are leaving the ground panting and sweating with bubbling excitement.
Of course everyone connected to the club wants success, they pine for it. But at the minute the club should be revelling in the fact that they are proving to be one of the countries top entertainers, forget X-Factor on a Saturday night, Sunderland at home and on match of the day is sharp becoming too good to miss.
After years of merely existing in football, Sunderland are finally throwing some weight about, and damn is it good to watch.
But with every good point unfortunately comes a bad, and that bad is that next week, we’re away to Tottenham. Oh well, roll on November 21, Arsenal at home.

Good article – it proves you are somewhat worthy of your position, despite the utter dribble you contrived about Kenwyn Jones. Steve Bruce is the best manager we’ve ever had – hence the entertainment. My only criticism of him is that Daryl Murphy still gets to wear a Sunderland shirt!
